General Session Speakers
John Beede Prepare to be amazed. John Beede, “The Climber Guy,” combines powerful success
lessons with incredible adventure stories. Participants have literally fallen out of their chairs
laughing. Audience members discover the “Climb On! Success Strategies,” the life-changing
leadership goal setting principles that are guaranteed to create massive positive change in
grades, test scores, club performance, leadership skills & family life!
Teen Truth Live - Bully & School Violence is an interactive, multi-media assembly experience that combines motivational presentations with a 22-minute film that was created by students.
The award winning film, TEEN TRUTH: BULLY & SCHOOL VIOLENCE, focuses on social issues that
can lead to serious consequences while the presentation challenges students to think about how
their reactions to these issues impact the lives of those around them. Using storytelling, humor,
real world examples and audience participation, TEEN
TRUTH LIVE: BULLY & SCHOOL VIOLENCE teaches students
to identify the different forms of bullying, understand
how bullying can lead to serious consequences,
and motivate students to stop bullying from happening
in their school.
Really Important Registration Information for Advisors!! Please Read!!
Capacity at the Convention Center is 1500, so we must limit enrollment. Therefore all schools must adhere to
these guidelines:
- Schools are limited to 15 people (total - including advisors)
- Schools may obtain 5 extra slots if they present a workshop or facilitate an Idea Share Breakout
Session on Monday. (Please complete the “Call for Presenters” form)
- Registration deadline is Friday, October 22. After that date, advisors must call our office
(503) 480-7206 to see if space is available. There is a chance we could reach capacity before the deadline, so don’t delay! We recommend that you reserve space first, then follow-up with payment or give a P.O. # and we will bill your school. NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION!
- Please note that schools must make their own hotel/beach house rental arrangements. Go to the Seaside Chamber of Commerce's website for a complete listing. Be sure to mention OASC; many hotels offer special rates for us.
Advisors
You must turn these items in at registration!
- Completed School Contact Information form (list of
student names & emergency numbers and place
where you are staying.)
- Signed Participant Commitment form for each student.
Students
- A Spirit Banner about your school to hang in the
Convention Center.
- Bring clothes for the “School Spirit” Dance
- Money if you wish to buy an OASC t-shirt or
sweatshirt.
Our Luncheon
Since we are inducting our new state officers at our
luncheon, we would like it to be special. We hope
you’ll stay for the luncheon, but if you do, please
plan to stay for the duration (until 1:30 p.m.) so we
don’t have the interruption of people leaving in the
middle of the program. Please indicate on the registration
form whether or not you’ll be staying, and
also your menu choice numbers, so we can accommodate
vegetarians.
